Nepalese authorities have launched a crackdown on the betting industry. As part of a new government program comprising over a hundred initiatives, access to all betting websites is to be completely restricted as soon as possible.

While the market previously operated in a gray area due to a lack of clear regulation, the situation has now changed dramatically. The government has officially classified any activity related to betting as a criminal offense.

By order of the Ministry of Communications, internet service providers have begun blocking websites en masse. Hundreds of popular platforms have already become inaccessible within the country or are operating with serious disruptions.

At the same time, the pressure extends not only to operators but also to users. The updated legislation provides for liability for all participants:

  • organizers risk up to one year in prison and the loss of all funds;
  • webmasters may be prosecuted for participating in illegal activities;
  • ordinary users may be fined and even convicted simply for using the services.

It is important to understand that these are not standard restrictions that can be circumvented using technical methods. In this case, control is exercised at the state level, and the risks for the audience become very real.

As a result, Nepal has practically dropped off the list of promising destinations for affiliate marketing. Working with this GEO now carries high legal risks for both webmasters and users.
